Frameless Glass
AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS:
With respect to cantilevered frameless glass balustrades, new design requirements are as follows:
If balustrade finished floor level is MORE or EQUAL to a drop of 1m from ground level then no top rail is required at this stage.
If balustrade finished floor level has MORE than a drop off of 1m to ground level, it is now necessary to provide an interlinking handrail to be used with toughened safety glass/laminated heat strengthened or laminated toughened safety glass and connected to adjacent glass panels with spans greater than 1m wide. Fixed to building and the balustrade needs to consist of at least three panels, where if any one particular panel should fracture, the remaining two panels and handrail are still there to resist the defined loads.
CANTILEVERED GLASS:
There are many different styles of glass clamps (spigotts) on the market, ranging from round to rectangular with different fixing options such as the core hole method or a combination of externally fixed clamps and base plates. We can cater for innovative, durable stainless clamps made in 316 marine grade material which will ultimately stand the test of time in terms of weathering the elements. It is your guarantee of structural integrity/reliabilty now and in years to come.
Structural Frameless aluminium channels can also be top fixed on top of tiles as an after thought... or fixed within cavity and tiled hard up, to create an illusion of complete non-existance. If you are at the design or construction stage and will be or are having concrete slab construction you may have your balustrade area diamond cut OR formed up in such a way to delete costing of aluminium channel, leaving behind a cavity for frameless glass insertion. Adequate cavity sizes range from 100-120mm deep x 40-50mm wide.
We also manufacture quality 25'micron (Anodise coating thickness) Anodised aluminium clamps that are perfect for external use, naturally will not tarnish and are very much a high class market product.
